What is Equity Release?

Equity release is a means of releasing the money (or capital) you have tied up in your property.

There are two main forms of regulated equity release:

1) Home Reversion Plans – a home reversion plan enables you to sell all or part of the value of your home in exchange for a tax free cash lump sum (or regular payments) and a guaranteed lifetime lease. At the end of the plan your property is sold and the sale proceeds are shared in accordance with proportions owned.

Bridgewater Equity Release is a specialist home reversion provider.

2) Lifetime Mortgages – the provider lends you cash secured against your property. Unlike a conventional repayment mortgage, interest is charged and added onto the balance of the loan, without any regular repayments. On the sale of your property the loan and the compounded interest is repaid from the sale proceeds.

Bridgewater Equity Release do not provide Lifetime Mortgages.
